Carl Pearson (1857-1936), modern istatistiğin kurucularından biri olarak kabul edilen İngiliz bilim adamıdır. 1857 yılında doğan Pearson, Londra College Üniversitesi, Cambridge ve Gresham College’de uygulamalı matematik ve mekanik profesörlüğü yaptı. 1892’de ilk önemli eserlerinden olan "The Grammar of Sciences" (Bilimler Grameri) adlı kitabını yayınladı.
