Bilimsel Çalışmaları: M.Ö. 6. yüzyılda yaşamış olan Thales felsefi faaliyetleri yanında bilimsel çalışmalarıyla da seçkinleşmiştir. Bu çalışmalar arasında ise, her şeyden önce, ona Yunan dünyasında abartılı bir ün kazandıran M.Ö. 585 yılındaki güneş tutulmasıyla ilgili doğru tahmini dolayısıyla astronomi çalışmaları gelir.
