İngiliz devlet adamı ve yazarı Wisnton Churchill, Oxfordshire'da, 30 Kasım 1874'te, Lord Randolph Churchill'in oğlu olarak dünyaya geldi. 1895'te Kraliyet Harb Okulunu bitirdi ve orduya girdi. Boerler savaşında esir düştü ve kaçarak milli kahraman haline geldi. On ay sonra, Muhafazakar partiden milletvekili seçildi.
