Metodizm, 18. yüzyılda İngiltere'de John Wesley adında bir keşişin bütün ülke boyunca at sırtında yol alarak yaydığı, Protestanlık mezhebine bağlı bir manevi düşünce sistemidir.
Çoğu tarihçi İngiltere'nin Fransız İhtilali benzeri bir devrimden metodizm sayesinde kurtulduğu konusunda hemfikirdir.
